Dimer acid, usually referred to as dimer fatty acid, is a complex mixture named because its main component contains two carboxylic acid groups. It is obtained by polymerizing unsaturated fatty acids such as oleic acid and linoleic acid. Dimer acid has excellent thermal stability and can maintain fluidity over a wide temperature range.

It has been widely used in the fields of synthetic printed circuit board materials, ink manufacturing, rocket engine materials, etc. High-purity dimer acid is a light yellow viscous liquid, and low-purity dimer acid is a reddish-brown viscous liquid. It usually uses vegetable oil as a raw material to react under high temperature and high pressure under the action of a catalyst to obtain a crude product, and then undergoes molecular distillation to obtain a pure product.
